After years of delays, studio closures, and cancellation scares, The Wolf Among Us 2 has finally resurfaced with a concrete plan. At Summer Game Fest 2026, Telltale Games revealed a new trailer for The Wolf Among Us 2 alongside a 2027 release window, and confirmed that The Wolf Among Us Remastered will arrive later in 2026. Both titles are officially licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of DC.
Two Announcements, One Stage
The games are being developed by PM Studios alongside Telltale, and are being produced in partnership with DC Vertigo and Warner Bros. PM Studios is supporting global publishing, distribution, and go-to-market efforts for both titles, while Telltale continues to lead creative development and narrative direction.
"For more than a decade, The Wolf Among Us has remained incredibly important to our players and to everyone at Telltale," said Jamie Ottilie, CEO of Telltale.
The sequel picks up in the neon-drenched back streets of Fabletown. The Wolf Among Us 2 takes place six months after the original season, just after Snow White takes over as deputy mayor of Fabletown, while Bigby is still struggling to transition from fairytale villain to sheriff and protector. Both Adam Harrington and Erin Yvette reprise their roles as Bigby Wolf and Snow White, respectively.
The new season is built on Unreal Engine 5. The game was being developed on Unreal Engine 4 before it was upgraded to Unreal Engine 5 during 2023, and will be released in an episodic approach.
The Remaster - What's New
The Wolf Among Us Remastered is a rebuilt edition of the 2013 original, launching digitally this Holiday 2026 for modern gaming platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch. The remaster brings enhanced visuals, refined character and environment presentation, an updated UI, improved accessibility features, and technical enhancements covering animation, audio, resolution, and framerate. Players will also get access to more than an hour of bonus content - behind-the-scenes videos, cast interviews, image galleries, and deleted scenes.

A Long Road Back
The road to this announcement has been one of gaming's most turbulent development sagas. A second season was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2017 and was originally set to premiere in 2018. In September 2018, Telltale had a majority studio closure due to "insurmountable challenges," cancelling the sequel among other projects.
In December 2019, at The Game Awards, The Wolf Among Us 2 was re-revealed as a fresh start rather than a continuation of the original 2017 project. The game was set to be released in 2023, but on March 1, 2023, Telltale announced the game was delayed out of 2023. Telltale claimed that while they had to lay off a portion of their team in September 2023 due to "market conditions," work on The Wolf Among Us 2 was ongoing.
According to AdHoc Studio, they did most of the writing and cinematic work for The Wolf Among Us 2, but ran into disagreements with Telltale over creative control of the project. Telltale reiterated that The Wolf Among Us 2 was still in development in October 2024 after denying claims the game was on the verge of cancellation.
The Bottom Line
After nearly nine years of on-again, off-again development, fans of Bigby Wolf finally have something to hold on to: a remaster arriving this winter to reintroduce the world, followed by the long-awaited sequel in 2027. The holiday release of The Wolf Among Us Remastered is a smart on-ramp for new players - and given the tortured history of the sequel, having a concrete window for TWAU2 is itself a landmark moment for the series.
