EA and Battlefield Studios have released the official gameplay trailer for Blastpoint, the mid-season Phase 2 update for Battlefield 6 Season 3. The mid-season content is gearing up for some exciting new additions, with the new trailer providing a rundown of what to look forward to. The Blastpoint update goes live June 9 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Cairo Bazaar Returns

The centrepiece of Blastpoint is Cairo Bazaar, a reimagining of one of the franchise's most popular close-quarters arenas. Cairo Bazaar is a reinterpretation of the Grand Bazaar from Battlefield 3, with narrow alleyways, rows of shops, and perfect ambush scenarios. The map is built as a mirror image, giving both sides equal flanks and bottlenecks, while vehicles patrol along the perimeter.

Alongside the new map, the update also brings back Battlefield 4's Obliteration mode. In Obliteration, players must secure neutral bombs, escort carriers, and destroy enemy M-COMs. The update will also introduce a reworked soldier visibility system, a 50% faster weapon attachment progression rate, and significant vehicle and gadget balance changes.

New free rewards come via the Explosive Charge Bonus Path: players can unlock the PP-19 SMG and the Handheld Jammer Recon Gadget through the Explosive Charge Bonus Path.

Season 4 naval warfare teaser - tropical reef and aircraft carrier setting for Tsuru Reef and Wake Island in Battlefield 6
Season 4 will introduce Tsuru Reef and the returning Wake Island, both built around full naval warfare with aircraft carriers and dynamic wave systems.

The Bigger 2026 Picture

The Blastpoint reveal arrived alongside EA's wider community update previewing the rest of the year. Naval warfare - a highly requested feature - is finally arriving in Season 4 with two major new maps: Tsuru Reef and Wake Island, both designed to blend naval combat with the franchise's traditional combined-arms gameplay.

Tsuru Reef is notably larger than Railway to Golmud, which is currently Battlefield 6's biggest map. The map takes players to a chain of tropical islands, mixing island terrain, beach assaults, open water, and areas built for infantry pressure.

Wake Island returns later in Season 4, reimagined for Battlefield 6. As one of Battlefield's most recognisable locations, the team is updating the map for the scale, systems, and modern setting of BF6 while preserving the identity that has made it a fan-favourite across the series.

EA also confirmed that it's making progress on the features outlined in its Battlefield 2026 roadmap, including proximity chat arriving in Season 4 and a server browser arriving in Season 5. Platoons are also coming in Season 5, allowing players to create gaming groups of up to 100 members.

Season 3 Roadmap at a Glance

Phase Name Date Key Content
Phase 1 Warlords: Supremacy May 12, 2026 Railway to Golmud, Ranked BR
Phase 2 Blastpoint June 9, 2026 Cairo Bazaar, Obliteration
Phase 3 High-Value Target June 30, 2026 Tactical Obliteration, Casual BR

Phase 2 (Blastpoint) brings back Obliteration alongside a new map and new gadgets, while Phase 3 - High-Value Target - closes the season with Tactical Obliteration, Casual Battle Royale, and the Wet Work event.

Where It Stands

Blastpoint is a well-timed content drop. Cairo Bazaar gives infantry players a compact, destruction-friendly arena right when Season 3's larger Railway to Golmud map may be feeling familiar, and bringing back Obliteration keeps the game's legacy modes alive. The Season 4 naval warfare preview is arguably the bigger news - returning Wake Island and a new carrier-based Tsuru Reef suggest EA is serious about rebuilding the sandbox appeal that made older entries so memorable. Delivering on those promises when Season 4 launches will matter far more than any trailer.
