Grasshopper Manufacture has dropped the first major content update for Romeo is a Dead Man, its stylish sci-fi hack-and-slasher that launched in February 2026. Cheekily titled "Romeo's Updated, Man", the patch is version 1.5.000 and is live now on Steam, with PS5 and Xbox Series versions to follow at a later date.

What the Update Adds

The headline additions are a Costume Change feature and a Photo Mode, two quality-of-life requests that fans have been hoping for since launch.

The Costume Change system unlocks post-game: once players have cleared Romeo is a Dead Man and saved their data, they can visit Romeo's room on the Space-Time Ship to access it. From there, the wardrobe opens up considerably.

Customization Type Options Available
Hotline Miami collab costumes Jacket, Biker (2 outfits)
Masks Dead Gear L.E.D., Dead Gear Luminous, Dead Gear Horned (3 total)
Jackets 8 total, including Tiger Jackets I-III, Tiger Death Ball Jacket, Demon Jacket
Other suits FBI Space-Time Task Force Battle Suit, Caliban County Sheriff Uniform

The two Hotline Miami collaboration outfits let players dress Romeo as Jacket - complete with the iconic chicken mask - and as the Biker. The crossover is a natural fit: Hotline Miami is a well-documented favorite of Grasshopper Manufacture's Goichi "Suda51" Suda.

The Photo Mode is accessible directly from the pause menu and works during the game's 3D sections, giving players a straightforward way to capture their newly tailored Romeo mid-rampage.

Sale and Bundle Pricing

Coinciding with the update, Romeo is a Dead Man is now 20% off on Steam, with the promotion running until July 9. A new bundle pairing the game with Hotline Miami (and Hotline Miami 2) is also available at 10% off. Grasshopper Manufacture has confirmed that the same discounts will roll out to PS5 and Xbox Series storefronts when the update hits those platforms.

Context: A Rocky but Stylish Launch

Romeo is a Dead Man launched on February 11, 2026 - self-published by Grasshopper Manufacture, making it the studio's first major self-published release. The game received mixed-to-average review scores on Metacritic for its PC and PS5 versions, with critics frequently citing poor balance and performance issues alongside genuine praise for its surreal atmosphere and style. A 1.4.000 patch earlier addressed DLSS-related frame rate drops and other PC-specific bugs.

With the "Romeo's Updated, Man" patch, Grasshopper is clearly listening to its audience - and pairing a Suda51-approved crossover with a meaningful discount is a smart way to bring in players who were waiting on the fence.
