Ubisoft took to Instagram to celebrate The Crew Motorfest reaching 10 million players - a significant milestone for any live-service title. The announcement arrives at a timely moment: Ubisoft Ivory Tower confirmed the figure alongside its plans for Year 4, ahead of the game's third anniversary in September.
The Crew Motorfest was developed by Ubisoft Ivory Tower and published by Ubisoft, releasing on September 14, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game became available on Steam in April 2024, seven months after its initial launch.
A Milestone Worth Noting - With a Caveat
It is worth keeping the 10 million figure in context. The milestone does not correlate directly to sales. Ubisoft has hosted numerous free trials for The Crew Motorfest, which will have boosted the player count, and the game is also available via the Ubisoft+ subscription service at no extra cost.
That said, the number is a genuine signal of sustained engagement. Since launch in 2023, post-launch updates have featured three seasons per year, each lasting four months - but starting with Season 10 in July, Ivory Tower is moving to four seasons per year, each lasting three months, committing to a fourth year of content for the open-world racer.
What Year 4 Looks Like
The accelerated update cadence is not the only sign of the team doubling down on the game. Season 9's RC Frenzy mode introduced miniature vehicles, custom-built physics, rooftop traversal, and a top-down camera - a significant creative pivot that forced developers to rethink the entire island of Oสปahu from a new perspective.
The map itself has already grown beyond launch. Ubisoft announced at Ubisoft Forward 2024 that The Crew Motorfest would add the Hawaiian island of Maui, which became available in November 2024.
On the platform side, Ubisoft announced in September 2024 that Motorfest would be getting an offline mode, following controversy over the shutdown of the first The Crew game.
