After more than a decade of keeping Los Santos criminals busy, GTA Online is about to deliver what many players believe could be its last major story-driven update before Grand Theft Auto VI arrives. The GTA Online Summer 2026 update, titled The Kortz Center Heist, arrives on July 14, 2026.
What is The Kortz Center Heist?
Set in the hills of Pacific Bluffs, the iconic Kortz Center has long been one of Los Santos' most prestigious cultural landmarks, housing a collection of valuable works of art from around the world. In this new heist, players will have the opportunity to target the gallery's prized collection and execute a major art theft for a substantial payday.
Players will be connecting with Mr. Faber and his chief fixer, Raf De Angelis, to kick off the heist. To initiate it, players must first invest by bringing an Art Studio expansion to their Mansion property. Once the Art Studio is set up, a "gifted counterfeiter" will make contact to help craft forgeries to replace the paintings targeted at the Kortz Center.
The first prep step is to scope out the location - players visit the Kortz Center, photograph the paintings without alerting security, and familiarise themselves with possible infiltration and escape routes. Players also need to cover their tracks after the score, which involves ensuring there are no witnesses and deleting any CCTV footage.
This is the first proper new heist added to GTA Online since Cayo Perico in December 2020.
Solo or squad - up to four players
Players can either tackle the Kortz Center Heist solo or team up with up to three friends. Rockstar warns that assembling a full crew pays dividends, so rounding up contacts before launch day is advisable.
The Art Studio will also act as a personal trophy cabinet, allowing players to showcase their stolen art pieces.
Platforms and update details
Title Update 1.73 will come to GTA Online for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and will also still release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. GTA Online title updates commonly arrive around 2:00 AM PDT / 10:00 AM BST.

Early rewards for Mansion owners
Mansion owners who log in before the update drops will earn Elitist status and receive a free Annihilator Stealth helicopter, a GTA$1,000,000 discount on the Art Studio expansion, a Kortz Center Sculpture, and the opportunity to steal a special high-value Painting to sell or keep.
The update will also bring new vehicles to GTA Online, including Supercars as well as Drift and Hao's Special Works upgrade-compatible options.
The shadow of GTA 6
With the release of Grand Theft Auto VI approaching, the Summer 2026 DLC is likely going to be the final GTA Online update - at least when it comes to storyline content. Grand Theft Auto VI is confirmed to release on November 19, 2026. Rockstar has confirmed the existing GTA Online will remain fully playable after that launch, so players will not be forced to abandon their criminal empires overnight.
