Independent studio WildSphere dropped a launch trailer for Escape from Umbra alongside its July 10, 2026 release, bringing the survival horror escape-room title to Nintendo Switch and six other platforms simultaneously.

What Is Escape from Umbra?

Escape from Umbra arrived on Nintendo Switch alongside PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and GOG, blending survival horror, logic puzzles, and atmospheric exploration into a haunted experience built around ancient witchcraft and psychological dread.

Developed and self-published 100% independently by WildSphere, the game launches simultaneously across all those platforms. The studio is following up the international success of Oxide Room 104, which sold over half a million copies, and moves away from explicit gore to immerse players in an atmosphere of ancient witchcraft and psychological horror.

The game transports players to a labyrinthine town inspired by the real-world mountain villages of Las Alpujarras, recreated faithfully in Unreal Engine 5, where dark roots and a dense, oppressive fog choke the town's iconic narrow streets and stark white facades.

Escape from Umbra places players in a vulnerable position - you are not an unstoppable action hero. The core loop revolves around stealth, puzzle-solving, and resource management across a shadowy village ruled by a relentless witch.

Unlike many inventory-heavy horror games, Escape from Umbra leans into a true escape-room structure - there are no floating backpacks or artificial inventory systems, so players must interact directly with the environment and figure out how objects work in 3D space.

Platform Availability and Launch Discount
